Reported by: Maite De La Rosa Tuesday, Jun 9, 2009 @06:37pm CDT Erin Brockovich was in Midland County on Tuesday, personally examining some of the wells that were contaminated with hexavalent chromium, making the water toxic. There is a large meeting scheduled at the Horseshoe, where people will be given a chance to ask their questions and discuss some of the big issues. Big 2 News has been following the Brockovich team as they continue their analysis. They've told us that they believe the oil services company Schlumberger might be behind the contamination. That's based off their own investigation into the pollution--and they say they have evidence that can back up that claim. Big 2 News has already started trying to contact Schlumberger for a comment on these allegations. So far we have not heard back, but we'll share that response as soon as we get it. The meeting will also discuss the cost of bringing Midland City Water out to that stretch of Midland County, so they can stop depending on contaminated wells. We'll have much more on this on Big 2 News, after the NBA Finals. |
