Reported by: Jay Plyburn Friday, Nov 6, 2009 @05:16pm CST Robberies seem to be taking place by the dozens recently, and Friday was no exception. A bank in "The teller advised that a black male walked into the bank, brandished a handgun and demanded the money," Corporal Sherrie Carruth, Odessa Police Department, said. The unknown male stole an undetermined amount of currency from the bank then fled the scene. "The tellers complied and the suspect left the bank. No injuries, no one was hurt, no shots were fired. The suspect was last seen running behind the bank which means he was running in a south direction," Carruth said. Nearby schools, namely Blanton Junior High and Nimitz Elementary, went into a state of lockdown as the search got underway. “A DPS helicopter is assisting us in this investigation with an aerial search. We also have the FBI on scene and the Law enforcement personnel continue to scour the area surrounding the bank, but so far they've come up short. The suspect is described as a black male in his early to mid twenties. He stands about 5’10” tall and is believed to weigh about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black Sean John hoodie, dark blue jeans, with black and white tennis shoes.
