ODESSA -- The Odessa Development Corporation is doubling the money they're spending towards a potential new water source in Pecos County.

The O.D.C. will now pay $3 million to drill a test well at the underground Capitan Reef Aquifer in Pecos County.

The O.D.C. is also working on an Interlocal Agreement with Fort Stockton to test water from the well.

If the water is deemed potable and sufficient for use, Odessa and Fort Stockton city leaders would work together to expand Fort Stockton's existing desalination plant.

The refurbished desalination plant would clean the water for use.

A pipeline could then potentially be built to bring the cleaned water to Odessa.
