ODESSA -- A new community group catering to young professionals is kicking off in Odessa.

The Young Professionals of Odessa is a new organization and a program of the Odessa Chamber of Commerce.

Y.P.O. is set to hold its first membership mixer from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Thursday, January 24th at South Forty. Organizers say the membership mixer will be a casual, come-and-go event.

The organization is open to any young adults between 22 and 40 years old in the Permian Basin.

"We intend to create a place to create business relationships, to network, as well as give back to the community and also to develop leadership skills," said Jeff Meyers, the Sports Sales Specialist with the Odessa Chamber of Commerce.

A planning committee was formed by the Odessa Chamber last fall to create Y.P.O.
