UPDATE:  The Ector County Sheriff's Office says they have turned this case over to Odesa Police.

The body was found inside a red car at the scene. Odessa Police were looking for that same car in September of 2012.

Because the field is full of brush, it's possible the car, and the body, were in that field for some time.

WEST ODESSA -- Texas Department of Public Safety troopers and Odessa Police are trying to identify a body that was found in West Odessa Friday afternoon.

Odessa Police tell Big 2 that they were called to the area of South Westcliff Road and Interstate 20 by D.P.S. troopers Friday afternoon.

Police have confirmed that the body of a deceased person was found at the scene.

Big 2's crew on the scene reports that police, D.P.S. troopers and officials from Ector County Medical Examiner's Office were in the area Friday afternoon.

Odessa Police say the body might be tied to an ongoing investigation, but they aren't releasing more information.

Big 2 has a crew on the scene.

We'll bring you more information as it becomes available.
