MIDLAND -- One person is injured in a crash on the south side of Midland.

The crash happened at the intersection of Rankin Highway (TX 349) and the service road of Interstate 20 around 9:30 AM Friday.

Midland Police tell Big 2 that a semi truck was heading west on the Interstate 20 service road when the driver tried to make a left turn onto the southbound lanes of Rankin Highway.

The big rig crashed into an oncoming Mercury Grand Marquis (which was heading east on the service road) in the intersection.

One person in the Grand Marquis was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Neither the other person in the Grand Marquis nor the semi truck driver were injured in the crash.

The names of people involved in the crash haven't been released.

Police say both drivers had a green light, but the driver of the big rig got a ticket for failing to yield the right of way.

Traffic in the area was slowed down for about 45 minutes as crews cleaned up the crash.
