May has just begun and we have already set a record morning low, what's next? We are headed straight for the opposite extreme with record high temps likely this weekend. Before the weekend though, rain is looking like more of a possibility south of the I-10 corridor. Breezy southeast winds today will build up large amounts of moisture against the mountains to our west, sparking up isolated storms. We do need the rain but the threat with these storms will mainly be lightning. Lightning is horrible with our dry ground and "ready-to-burn" grass. Keep it tuned to Big2 for all of your updates on this afternoon's storms.

This weekend, the chance for rain shifts well east of us abd is replaced with some of the hottest temps we've seen so far this year. Saturday will flirt with 100, I'm forecasting 99 degrees and sunny skies! Sunday, even hotter. Temps will tough the triple digits Sunday with a breezy west wind, drying us out also! High fire danger Sunday and into early next week as no relief is in sight from the heat or the fire danger.
