West winds taking over today will dry us out quickly, moving any chance for rain east of the Basin. Winds will gust up to 30 mph this afternoon , drying us out, and elevating our fire hazards. Red Flag Warning in effect across parts of the Permian Basin lasting through Wednesday with even stronger winds expected tomorrow. West winds typically warm temps much warmer than usually and that is exactly what we will see today and tomorrow, 94 degrees expected both days before our next cold front swings through the Basin. Thursday winds will be shifting to the north late in the day with more clouds and our next best chance for rain. Overnight Thursday and into Friday morning will be the best chance for rain but only in our eastern counties. I'm watching this system closely because it could speed up and shift our rain chances east again. Everything will dry out and warm back up for your holiday weekend, Armed Forces Day is Saturday!
