The triple digit heat is over!

A cold front is currently sweeping through the panhandle and making it's way into the Permian Basin.

The front will come through Midland/Odessa around 1am.

As it passes, wind will become a serious threat, approaching 60 mph in some locations.

A wind advisory is in effect through Noon Saturday, with the Pine Springs area under a High Wind Warning for the same time period.

Wind should be the only threat, as we are experiencing a very dry atmosphere right now.

That being said, anytime a strong front rolls through, it could potentially lift even small amounts of moisture, and for that reason we are calling for around 20% rain chances tonight and tomorrow.

Behind the front, we are looking for a high of 80 on Saturday, 86 on Sunday and the low 90's throughout next week.
