Texas Tech Knocks Off No. 5, WVU, 49-14

By: Red Raider Nation
Updated: October 14, 2012
LUBBOCK -- It had been a while since Texas Tech had upset a top 5 team. Actually, since 2008. Not to mention the length of time that had past since the Red Raiders last Big 12 win in 2010. So the 49-14 upset of West Virginia took care of both of those.

Tech struck early when Seth Doege found Jace Amaro for a 39-yard touchdown. And then again on their second possession when Eric Ward made a touchdown grab.

It was a tremendous day for Doege who finished with a career-high 499 yards and 6 touchdowns. Three of those were caught by Darrin Moore.

Now Texas Tech will look forward, facing TCU next week.
