For the past 10 years, H.E.B. has been having their annual Feast of Sharing.
H.E.B. has a team of cooks touring the State of Texas for the feast of sharing events, and the superstore kicked off its first Feast of Sharing of the 2012 season in Midland Friday.
Hundreds of volunteers served turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and more to thousands of people.
In fact, H.E.B. believes they served 8,000 people at the Midland County Horseshoe Arena.
The meal is entirely free to attendees, but H.E.B. officials say the support of the community makes the event happen.
"When a whole community comes together to accomplish anything its really powerful," Midland H.E.B. Unit Director Bob Murphy told Big 2. "And Midland's that kind of city where everybody comes together -- from non profits to business to individuals."
There was also plenty of entertainment at the 2012 Feast of Sharing in Midland -- including a kids area specifically set up for children, as well as live music.
The traveling H.E.B. cooks will next head to Fort Worth for their second feast this year.
The cooks will be coming back to the Permian Basin later in the year to put on a feast in Odessa.
