However, there are two other candidates in the running for the seat that will soon be vacated by Kay Bailey Hutchison: Libertarian candidate John Jay Myers and Green Party candidate David B. Collins.
Collins met with Big 2 News and shared some of the big positions of the Green Party Friday.
Collins also said that he wants to replace fossil fuel energy with green power.
While Collins' proposal might sound bad for West Texas, he believes that the area is poised to lead the transition.
"There's definitely a role for oil, coal and natural gas to play in the immediate future," Collins told Big 2. "We need to work on phasing those out, however. I would like to see Texas, and especially this part of Texas, become a world leader in alternative energy production."
The Green Party also believes that all Americans should be able to get a tuition-free college education at state schools, America needs to create more jobs in green energy, the nation needs to embrace a position on non-violence, and national leaders should legalize cannibis to take the criminal element out the marijuana distribution business.
