SNYDER -- An autopsy was underway Monday for a Snyder man who was shot dead after he reportedly threatened officers and his own young son with a knife.

A Snyder Police officer fatally shot David Dale Rivera on November 3rd.

Police say that they were called to Rivera's home after he threatened to kill his girlfriend, his 1-year-old son and himself.

Rivera, 52, was reportedly standing at the front door of the home with his son and two knives when officers arrived on the scene.

However, police say Rivera put the child down and charged an officer, who opened fire in response.

Rivera died at a nearby hospital after the shooting.

The officer who pulled the trigger is on paid administrative duty, per protocol.
