MIDLAND -- Stepping into the doors of Midland Memorial Hospital's impressive new nine-story Scharbauer Tower is like entering a nice hotel.  The two-story lobby is bright, colorful, and welcoming!

Comparisons with a hotel don't end there.  Patients will have room service, in-room access to movies and the internet.

Patient and clinician friendly, the Scharbauer Tower has added an attractive and highly-functional facility to Midland's skyline.

Constructed through a $115 million bond issue along with over $60 million in private funds, the new tower features the latest technology such as lifts to assist with moving non-ambulatory patients, flexibility to remotely monitor vital signs in every room, observation alcoves for nurses between every two rooms, and a new labor and delivery floor which allows better bonding time for new mothers, their babies, and families.

A public open house is scheduled for Sunday, December 2nd, from 2-6 pm. This will give area residents an opportunity to tour the new state-of-the-art Scharbauer Tower before it becomes operational.

Reservations are not necessary.
