Flying to family and friends for Thanksgiving will be more crowded and more expensive this year.

Nearly 24 million people are expected to fly between Friday, November 16, and Tuesday, November 27 according to trade group Airlines for America.

That's an increase of about 150,000 passengers from last year.

There are fewer planes flying because of skyrocketing jet fuel prices, so airlines can afford to hike prices.

If you don't want as much company, experts say consider flying on Thanksgiving Day.

Also consider booking at alternate airports that may offer lower fares.
