Women Leaders Honored During 2012 Athena Awards

ODESSA -- An award luncheon in Odessa is inspiring women to reach their full leadership potential.

    The 11th annual Athena Award celebration was held Thursday in Odessa.

    Author and auto dealership owner Marion Luna Brem was the keynote speaker at the ceremony.

    Brem shared her story of triumph over tragedy along with what she calls the 7 greatest truths about successful women.

    The Athena award itself, is named after the the strong, enlightened goddess.

    "Someone who shows excellence in their profession, their business, that give to the community, that give to other women, that help to grow other women rather it's in their profession or their business," Josefina Hooker of Freedom Buick G.M.C. told Big 2. "That's what we try to recognize."

    Tatum Hubbard won the 2012 Athena award.

    Kathie Braunstein and Mara Barham were also nominated for the award.

    The annual event is presented by Freedom Buick G.M.C. and the Odessa Chamber of Commerce.
