ANDREWS -- A possible child stalker has been detained in Andrews.

Andrews County Sheriff's deputies and Andrews Police teamed up to arrest a Hispanic man in the 300 block of NE Avenue K around 7:40 AM Thursday.

The man -- whose name has not been released -- was reportedly sitting in a white van next to Clearfork Elementary School at the time he was taken into custody.

Andrews Police and Andrews County Sheriff's deputies say that the van had been spotted following young children in both the City of Andrews and Andrews County in recent days.

Authorities aren't sure if the man they arrested was involved with these other incidents.

However, the man is being held on an immigration detainer, and for giving fake information to a police officer.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
