MIDLAND -- A Midland man is accused of sexually assaulting his elderly neighbor.

Derrick J. McLaughlin was arrested on November 6th.

Midland Police say that McLaughlin, 32, broke into his neighbor's home in the 2500 block of Brunson Avenue on the morning of August 10th.

Officers say that McLaughlin -- who was reportedly naked at the time -- woke up a 63-year-old woman who was sleeping in the home.

McLaughlin reportedly ignored the woman's pleas for him to leave the home.

Instead, McLaughlin allegedly got into bed and sexually assaulted the woman.

The victim said McLaughlin had alcohol on his breath at the time of the incident, and he was reportedly wearing glasses.

Although McLaughlin reportedly denied responsibility for the incident, D.N.A. evidence allegedly pointed to him as the culprit -- leading to his arrest.

Now, McLaughlin is charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit sexual assault.

As of Thursday evening, McLaughlin was being held in the Midland County Detention Center on $100,000 bond.
