UPDATE: Attorney's Retained To Represent Some Victims of Train Tragedy

MIDLAND -- Two lawyers have been hired to represent some of the victims from Thursday's Midland train tragedy.

Texas-based lawyer Kevin Glasheen and Kansas-based lawyer Bob Pottroff will be representing several victims in possible upcoming legal action.

Glasheen has handled lawsuits for numerous railroad crossing accidents.

According to a press release from Glasheen's law firm Glasheen, Valles & Inderman, LLP (which has offices in Odessa, Lubbock, El Paso and Albuquerque), Glasheen has worked on cases that have netted some of the largest jury verdicts in Texas, including a $65 million verdict and a $46 million jury verdict .

Glasheen also represented Midland County native Michael Hartlove -- who lost an arm below the elbow when it got stuck in a paper baler -- in a case against Butts Recycling and Permian Basin MHMR.

A Midland County jury awarded Hartlove, 50, a $6,129,083.19 settlement in July.

Glasheen already has a team in Midland investigating the crash.

Glasheen's team is trying to figure out what led to the accident.

"Usually there's more than one cause of a tragedy of this magnitude," said Glasheen. 'But in our experience, there is some responsibility on the part of the railroad in most of these cases -- whether its equipment issues or operations issues."

Glasheen's law firm says that Pottroff (who is based out of Manhattan, KS) is recognized as the nation's leading railroad crossing accident and train accident attorney.

The two lawyers will give more details on any upcoming legal action at a press conference in Midland at 11 AM on November 19th.

The following news release was sent out Friday afternoon:
