Big 2 News and Midland Teachers Credit Union salute this weeks Hometown Hero.

Sgt Joshua Michael joined the Army after 9-11, serving two tours in Iraq with the 101st Airborne Division -- including the spearhead during the Iraq invasion in 2003.

During his time overseas he was injured three times, suffering two traumatic brain injuries and more.

But the hardest thing was hearing about struggles on the homefront.

His daughter Maci, needed surgery on her eyes, and his wife, Daylyn, was diagnosed with cancer, but they weathered these challenges and were stronger for them.

They celebrated fifteen years of marriage back in September.

He leaves behind his wife Daylyn, his daughter Maci, and his son Ryan.
