Marfa-Based Film Wins Award In Italy

MARFA -- A movie that was shot in Marfa has won an award at a European film festival.

    The Big Bend Sentinel reports that "Marfa Girl" won Best Film at the 7th Rome Film Festival -- which was held in Rome, Italy on November 18th.

    "Marfa Girl" was up against 15 other world-premiere films for the award.

    The movie -- which was produced by Larry Clark -- was filmed in Marfa and Presidio County.

    "Marfa Girl" cuffers the subject of the underground life of teenagers in small-town West Texas.

    The movie includes scenes of sex, rape, and a confrontation with a Border Patrol agent gone bad.

    "Marfa Girl" was released on Tuesday on larryclark.com.

    The movie reportedly won't be released in movie theaters or on DVD or BluRay.
