MIDLAND -- The oldest annual 5K running event in the Permian Basin will be hitting the pavement again this weekend.

Junior Achievement's Jingle Bell Run fundraiser has been an annual event for more than 20 years.

On December 8th, organizers expect more than 200 participants to come out and support the cause.

All the money raised with this event will directly benefit Junior Achievement's mission of education, by helping the organization instill financial literacy in students.

"Junior Achievement is the largest education agency in the world, who provides in school programing to build a future - to help children, to help our youth, our young people to have a plan for what they want to do when they get out of school," James Parks of Junior Achievement told Big 2.

Big 2 News is excited to take part in the jingle bell run this year.

The Greathouse Elementary team has won the traveling trophy over the past 3 years for their participation.
