AUSTIN -- Texas Governor Rick Perry has extended the disaster declaration in scores of Texas counties, due to a continuing drought across the area.

Perry first signed the proclamation -- which authorizes public and private resources to be used to fight devastating effects of droughts, such as wildfires -- on July 5, 2011.

At the time the proclamation was signed, Texas was dealing with several raging wildfires.

Conditions are currently less dry across the Lone Star State, but drought conditions linger in numerous parts of the state.

Now, Governor Perry has extended the disaster proclamation for counties all over the state -- including Andrews, Borden, Dawson, Gaines, Hudspeth, Culberson, Jeff Davis and Presidio counties in West Texas.
