2012 Warmest Year On Record In Continental United States

MIDLAND --  The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reports that the 48 contiguous states in the United States experienced the warmest year on record in 2012.

    The previous warmest year on record in the 48 contiguous states of the United States was 1936.

    In terms of global temperatures, 1998 was the only warmer year than 2012.

    Global temperatures have been above average for 36 straight years.
