WEST ODESSA -- Some maintenance work in West Odessa led to some lane closures Thursday.

TXDOT workers were fog sealing F.M. 1936 between West University Boulevard (F.M. 2020) and Interstate 20) Thursday.

The road is four lanes wide, but crews were working on one lane at a time to minimize disruptions.

Drivers were asked to avoid the area if possible.

The fog sealing project is designed to seal small cracks in the road surface.

Fog sealing work prevents the cracks from getting larger, which would allow moisture to seep into the base of the road.

TXDOT crews say that the project will prolong both the life of the road and the life of the asphalt.
