Teen Indicted For Alleged Role In October 2012 Big Spring Murder

BIG SPRING -- A Big Spring teen has been indicted for his alleged role in an October 2012 murder.

    Christopher Daniel Marquez was indicted in charges of murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of firearm by a felon on January 31st.

    Howard County Sheriff Stan Parker says that Marquez, 19, was involved in a shooting the 500 block of Driver Road in Big Spring (outside the old V.F.W. building) on October 27, 2012.

    The shooting claimed the life of 33-year-old Luis Adolfo Pena.

    Raul Mendez was also injured in the shooting. Mendez, 33, was later treated for his injuries at Scenic Mountain Medical Center and released.

    A warrant was issued for the arrest of Christopher Marquez on October 28, 2012 in connection with the shooting, but deputies were initially unable to locate Marquez.

    U.S. Marshals, Texas Rangers, Howard County Sheriff's deputies and Howard County Sheriff's deputies later teamed up to arrest Christopher Marquez, Romero Marquez and Gomezindo Diaz in the 1900 block of Sherwood Way in San Angelo on October 31, 2012.

    Romero Marquez (Christopher Marquez's brother) and Diaz were both reportedly armed at the time of the arrests.
 
    Romero Marquez and Diaz were charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon after the arrest.

    Diaz was also charged with possession of marijuana.
