MIDLAND -- The Safari Club International made a stop in Midland Saturday for its annual fundraiser. Those that came out could shop for guns, jewelry, paintings and take part in live and silent auctions.

Safari Club is popular for its hunting activities, but it also works to provide funding for conservation, education and humanitarian work. Some of the funds raised through the fundraiser will go toward a museum of natural science set to be built east of F.M. 1788 in Midland.

"A lot of our proceeds are going towards the foundation of the building, and actually starting a foundation to preserve that animals that are being harvested all over the world to show our young children what some of these animals look like in their natural habitat," said Safari Club International President Cal Hendrick.

The remainder of the funds will go toward wildlife conservation and humanitarian charity both local and abroad.
