HOWARD COUNTY -- A pregnant Howard County woman is facing criminal charges for allegedly endangering her unborn child by abusing drugs while pregnant.

KBYG Radio in Big Spring reports that Christene Michelle Beam was arrested on February 13th.

Howard County Sheriff Stan Parker says Beam, 32, has been using illegal drugs while on parole and pregnant.

The unborn child's father -- who lives in the Houston area -- told deputies about Beam's condition.

The Howard County District Attorney's Office ordered that beam take a drug test, but Parker says she failed the drug test.

Now, Beam is charged with child endangerment.

As of Thursday afternoon, beam was being held in the Howard County Law Enforcement Center in Big Spring.
