ECTOR COUNTY -- A family in northern Ector County loses their home to an early morning fire.

Odessa Fire and Rescue officials say that the fire broke out in the garage of a home in the 800 block of Claymoor Drive around 4 AM Wednesday.

The blaze quickly spread to the attic and roof of the home before firefighters arrived on the scene.

The family that lives in the home -- which includes two children -- was able to get out safely, and firefighters knocked down the blaze.

Fire officials say that most of the garage, attic and roof of the home were ravaged by flames, while about half of the interior of the house suffered smoke and water damage.

Insurance adjusters will now determine if the home is salvageable.
