NEW ORLEANS, LA -- Hurricane Isaac has been downgraded to a tropical storm, but it was still bringing  fierce winds, heavy rain, and flooding to the central Gulf Coast Wednesday.

The slow-moving storm also promises to bring more rain, wind and storm surge flooding to the area as it continues to move slowly to the northwest.

At least 725,000 people have lost power in the storm.

People in low lying parts of Louisiana were forced to evacuate Tuesday as the water rose.

In some areas of Louisiana, water lay at least 12 feet deep Wednesday, and coffins were actually floating out of flooded graves.

A curfew was in effect in New Orleans, and many schools there will remain closed until next week.
