ODESSA -- A Utah man is killed in an early morning crash in Odessa.

The crash happened at East 31st Street and North Dixie Boulevard around 12:30 AM Friday.

Odessa Police say that Patrick Dean Regan was driving west in the 2600 block of East 31st Street, when he ran a flashing red light at the Dixie Boulevard intersection.

Regan's 1998 Honda Accord smashed into a 2007 BMW that was heading north in the 3100 block of North Dixie Boulevard.

The BMW and the Accord bounced off each other -- and the impact sent the BMW west on East 31st Street from the intersection, before the vehicle came to a stop.

Meanwhile, the Accord skidded sideways and hit a curb on the northwest side of the intersection. The Accord then flipped over on its top.

People living nearby heard the crash and rushed outside to help.

"We were pretty shocked," Dorothy Zapata told Big 2. "We really were shocked. And just thinking about the young man's family. We were hoping he was going to survive, but when we saw they had covered him up with a sheet we were pretty devastated."

Regan, 32, was pronounced dad at the scene. Police say he was from Murray, UT.

A passenger in the Accord -- 27-year-old Jennifer Lee --  was rushed to Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the BMW -- 21-year-old Cameron W. Brown -- was also rushed to Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
