MIDLAND -- They may be too young to vote in the real election, but some Midland I.S.D. students got a chance to cast their vote for president in school Friday.

San Jacinto Junior High School held a mock presidential election in their social studies classes throughout the day.

The exercise was a chance for students to get a taste of the electoral process.

Midland Mayor Wes Perry also discussed the election and what some of what the kids might be seeing.

"You kind of hear all these nasty things," Perry told Big 2. "And what I'd like to do, my goal today would be to try and bring us back to some reality and focus on what we have alike rather than different."

Mayor Perry also discussed some of the things that local government has to do for Midlanders -- such as looking at water restrictions.
