ODESSA -- Odessa Regional Medical Center celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month by opening their new Women's Center Tuesday.

The $800,000 project doubles the size of the women's health area at O.R.M.C.

The new Women's Center -- which is located inside the Albert B. Finch Medical Office Building -- consolidates women's health services that were originally scattered in different parts of the hospital.

Now, women can get mammograms, bone density tests, and other medical screens performed in one centralized location.

"This gives our patients a place to come to have the screening tests that are necessary to determine if there is breast cancer," Odessa Regional Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Stacey Gerig told Big 2. "And then we have follow up services that can help aid those patients through that next continuum of care that they'll go through."

Follow up programs include the Breast Navigator Program -- where a woman provides continuing counseling and care for women being treated for breast cancer, even after procedures are completed.
