ODESSA -- Dia De Los Muertos -- or Day Of The Dead -- is one of the most recognizable Hispanic holidays.

Hispanic Heritage of Odessa paid tribute to the holiday with a luncheon at Odessa Regional Medical Center on Friday.

The luncheon also served as a chance for Hispanic Heritage of Odessa leaders to clear up some misinformation about the holiday.

"Day of the Dead really is [really a holiday where we] remember our loved ones and we're very spiritual," L.U.L.A.C.'s Carol Uranga told Big 2. "The Hispanic community, our traditions, our culture is all about our loved ones. And we cherish their memories forever. So even the skulls, the things about dead people, it doesn't bother us at all because those are our loved ones."

Hispanic Heritage of Odessa also used the holiday as a way of bringing more attention to the dangers of drug and alcohol addiction.

Hispanic Heritage of Odessa also honored some Hispanic officers and leaders that are fighting the drug threat.
