Former Pastor Beats Consulting Scientist for Texas State Board of Education Seat

AMARILLO -- Mediator and former pastor, Marty Rowley, beats consulting scientist and Midlander Steven Schafersman for the 15th District Texas State Education Board seat.

After the win, he mentioned that he wants to raise test scores, but that tests aren't the only way to learn.

He also touched on training students for vocational careers.

He said that students who don't want to go the college route should more of an outlet for applied learning.

District 15 covers 77 counties in the Texas Panhandle and southern plains. It's the largest district in the state of Texas.
