Fort Stockton I.S.D. Looking To Stop Rise In Drug Use Among Students

By: Dylan Brooks
Updated: November 23, 2012
FORT STOCKTON -- Fort Stockton I.S.D. is taking steps to curb a recent surge in drug use among its students.

According to The Fort Stockton Pioneer, 3 Fort Stockton I.S.D. students were arrested for marijuana possession during the month of October alone.

Six citations were given to students for public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia in October.

The district has responded to the recent drug-based incidents by implementing the dare program -- which urges students to say no to drugs -- at all of it's campuses.

Fort Stockton I.S.D. has also partnered with the Drug Enforcement Agency, U.S. Border Patrol and the Department of Homeland Security to show students a video that covers what could happen if they become involved with drug cartels.
