BIG SPRING -- A Big Spring man is accused of leading police on a vehicle chase with three unrestrained kids in the back seat.

Michael Shay Vanderbilt is charged with evading arrest with a vehicle, three counts of endangering a child, and criminal negligence.

According to The Big Spring Herald, Vanderbilt, 38, attacked a woman outside the Neighbors Convenience Store in the 3300 block of F.M. 700 around 9:15 PM on November 28th.

When deputies arrived on the scene, Vanderbilt reportedly got in his vehicle and took off, leading the deputy on a short chase.

Three kids were in the vehicle at the time of the chase, and deputies say they didn't have their seat belts on.

The chase ended in the 1500 block of Wood Street, and Vanderbilt was arrested.

As of Thursday evening, Vanderbilt was being held in the Howard County Detention Center on $32,500 bond.
