BIG SPRING -- A trial is underway for a Big Spring man accused of sexually assaulting children.

The Big Spring Herald reports that jury selection began Tuesday in the Howard County Courthouse for the trial against Hector Manuel Gonzales Jr..

Gonzales, 33, is charged with 4 first-degree felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Prosecutors say 4 sexual assault incidents between Gonzales and children occurred between March 1, 2010 and November 24, 2010.

The trial was supposed to get underway in the 118th District Court on October 29th, but the trial was postponed after Gonzales' attorney fell ill.

If convicted, Gonzales would face 5 to 99 years in a Texas prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
