ODESSA -- The search for the new Permian Head Football Coach is heating up.

Ector County I.S.D. has narrowed the candidates down to three, and a decision will be made on Friday.

In a press release, Ector County I.S.D. announced Tuesday that The Board of Trustees plans to meet Friday at noon to approve the hiring of a new head football coach.

The finalists are Ted Willmann, an associate head coach at Austin Westlake; Matt Anastasio, the current head coach at Gregory-Portland; and Blake Feldt, current head coach at Hays Consolidated.

Willman and Anastasio were former Permian assistant coaches under Darren Allman. Feldt once worked as an assistant at Midland High.

There is a possibility that other candidates could be invited for an interview although none are scheduled at this point.

The new head coach will replace Gary Gaines, who stepped down in December after spending the past four years as the Panthers coach.
