MIDLAND -- Midland Police are warning that people who leave their vehicles running and unattended could lose their ride.

Officers say that more than 10 vehicles that have been left unattended in January have been stolen.

Police say that leaving a running vehicle unattended is a Class C misdemeanor under Transportation Code Chapter 545.404.

Those who leave vehicles running and unattended are also giving thieves an easy target.

M.P.D. encourages the public to avoid leaving vehicles running unattended at any time -- including while the vehicle warms up in a driveway on chilly days or while the driver is in a convenience store.
