MIDLAND -- "Riders on the Orphan Train" coming to the Petroleum Museum.

The multimedia program Riders on the Orphan Train tells the story of the mass relocation of several hundred thousand children from NYC by rail to be chosen by new families at train depots in every state between the 1850's and 1920's.  Texas hosted hundreds of adoptions across the state, including  Houston, Brenham, Plantersville, Rosenberg and most of the towns along the tracks to San Antonio.   Galveston was the recipient of an orphan ship!  Orphans also came to San Angelo, Pecos and El Paso.
