The Supreme Court is once again taking on the tricky issue of campaign finance laws.

The high court has agreed to hear a challenge to individual donation limits in federal election campaigns.

The current limit for individuals to donate to political candidates is 46,200 dollars and 70,800 dollars to political action committees.

But Alabama donor Shaun McCutcheon a Republican says the restrictions violate the First Amendment.

He is challenging the Federal Election Commission on the donation caps.

The court will visit the case during the court's next term, starting in October.
