MIDLAND -- A large fuel spill leads to the closure of a Midland road.

Midland Police say an oil tanker ruptured while crossing the railroad tracks at Front Street and Fairgrounds Road around 12:50 PM on Friday.

The truck kept driving north on Fairgrounds Road, but about 150 gallons of fuel spilled out onto the roadway until it stopped.

A HAZMAT crew rushed to the scene to clean up the spilled fuel, and crews from TXDOT and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality joined them.

Crews had to close the northbound lanes of fairgrounds road for more than an hour as they cleaned up the spill.
