UPTON COUNTY -- A man is badly injured in a head on collision in Upton County.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers tell Big 2 that a man in his 30s was driving south on TX 349 near the Upton-Midland County line around 12 PM Wednesday when his S.U.V. swerved into the northbound lane.

The S.U.V. smashed into the number 4 axle of an oncoming tractor-trailer.

The driver of the S.U.V. had to be cut out of the vehicle.

The man-- whose name hasn't been released -- was rushed to Midland Memorial Hospital in unknown condition.

Troopers don't suspect alcohol as a factor in the wreck.

Upton County Sheriff's deputies, E.M.S. crews and D.P.S. troopers responded to the crash.
