Hold on to your belongings today West Texans, the wind will gust to near 40 mph in the Permian Basin with 70 mph possible in the mountains to the west! Temps will also cook this today, look for record level heat as highs top out near 89 (90 is the record, set back in 1950!). The good news is that the wind will be much calmer tomorrow, still windy but not nearly as bad! Highs will also start to level off as temps drop to more normal levels. Expect temps closer to 80 Tuesday and near 70 by Thursday with much less wind!
