MIDLAND -- The Salvation Army is warning donors to beware of scams relating to relief efforts in Japan.

The Salvation Army says there are currently bogus e-mails going around asking for donations to the Salvation Army's relief efforts in Japan. The e-mail - which claims to be from the Salvation Army - urges people to send a donation to an email address. That e-mail address is not a valid Salvation Army address.

If you get one of these e-mails, you can report it to your local Better Business Bureau.

If you want to donate to the Salvation Army's relief efforts, You can text the words "JAPAN" or "QUAKE" to 80888 to make a $10 donation. You can also donate over the phone at 1-800-SAL-ARMY, or give through the organization's official website -- www.salvationarmyusa.org. Additionally, You can mail a check -- marked "JAPAN EARTHQUAKE RELIEF" -- to:

The Salvation Army World Service Office
International Relief Fund
