ANDREWS COUNTY -- A large grass fire south of Andrews has been contained.

The fire broke out around 6 PM Tuesday evening about 12 miles south of Andrews near U.S. 385. Fire crews from several counties helped Andrews crews fight the blaze. They were able to contain the fire after a few hours.

The blaze claimed hundreds of acres, but there were no homes in its path. About 50 oil wells were threatened, but none were lost. Still, some flow lines were damaged by the flames.
