High Fire Danger for West Texas

Red flag warnings are in effect for most of the western half of the state today. West Texas and the Panhandle have the potential for extreme fire danger with relative humidity in the single digits, high wind warnings with sustained winds of 30-40 mph and gusts to 55 mph.

All counties in Texas are at some level of drought conditions; 78.6 percent of the state experiencing extreme or severe drought.
