Midland Fire Department responded to a call at Midland Village Apartments just before 4 PM Saturday. One building at the complex was destroyed, leaving 4 families without a home.
Tammy Algood -- one of the people displaced because of the fire -- says she doesn't know how it happened.
"I work hard," Algood told Big 2. "I go to work and take care of my kids, that's what I do. I don't know what happened. My son said that the electrical thing kind of blew up and it blew up on our curtains and it was down and he got me out."
"There's always sadness in it because someone is being displaced from their home," added Midland Fire Department Captain Karl Skaggs. "It is very traumatic for them. It's a very hard deal to have to overcome."
The department still hasn't determined what the cause of the fire is. The families that were displaced are now being helped by the American Red Cross.
