ECTOR COUNTY -- A large grass fire that forced evacuations south of Odessa Sunday is still not completely contained.

The fire broke out near the South Ranchito area Sunday, and high winds helped it grow quickly. More than 100 homes in the South Ranchito and Batesfield Road areas were evacuated for several hours during the afternoon. About 300 home were threatened.

The fire is now 90 percent contained, but 1500 acres have been lost. The Odessa Fire Department will continue to monitor the fire overnight with two tankers.
